Tractor Implement Testing Simulator

Date

August 2023

Role

Systems Engineer & Robotics Engineer

Location

Westminster, CO

Objective:
The Tractor Implement Testing Simulation System project aimed to address the challenges associated with testing large tractor implements under practical conditions. The primary objectives were to create a cost-effective simulation system that replicates implement functions and feedback, reducing the reliance on expensive tractor operation and mitigating weather-related limitations.

Project Description:
As a System Engineer on the Tractor Implement Testing Simulation System project, I collaborated closely with various teams and stakeholders. My role involved defining the project scope, objectives, and documenting requirements through a comprehensive Product Requirement Document (PRD). The PRD served as a foundational blueprint for the project, guiding development efforts and ensuring alignment with project goals.

Additionally, as a robotics engineer currently pursuing my master's degree, I went beyond my primary responsibilities by contributing to the PCB (Printed Circuit Board) design, even though it was outside the scope of my role. This interdisciplinary approach helped streamline integration and added value to the project.

Responsibility:
Collaborated with stakeholders to define project scope and objectives.
Created a comprehensive PRD outlining features, functionalities, and specifications.
Documented the simulation of switches, sensors, and feedback mechanisms.
Assisted in the creation of testing plans and Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA) documents.
Contributed to the PCB design for seamless integration.

Outcome:
The Tractor Implement Testing Simulation System project successfully delivered a compact simulation system, meeting its objectives of reducing testing costs and overcoming weather-related limitations. The PRD, developed during my collaboration with stakeholders, served as a foundational document throughout the project, ensuring alignment with goals. My interdisciplinary contributions to PCB design facilitated seamless integration, showcasing the value of a systems engineering approach to project execution.
