Objective:
To systematically engineer and implement an operator presence detection system in compliance with relevant industry standards, contributing to enhanced safety and operational efficiency in machinery operations.

Project Description:
In a role as a System Engineering Intern at Trimble, I was part of the team that worked on the Operator Presence Enhancement Project. This project focused on integrating a dependable operator presence detection system into machinery operations. Operator presence is vital for safety, ensuring that operators are attentive and available when required. Industry standards emphasize the need for a reliable means of detecting operator presence within the machinery's operator station or relevant environment.

Our primary objective was to develop a comprehensive solution that aligned with industry standards, prioritizing safety and efficiency. The project followed a systematic approach, commencing with a collaborative brainstorming session to explore innovative ideas. Safety and compliance with relevant standards were paramount, and potential solutions were assessed based on various criteria, including cost, feasibility, retrofitting possibilities, resource allocation, time-to-market considerations, scalability, and their associated advantages and disadvantages.

Responsibilities:
As a System Engineering Intern, my responsibilities included actively participating in the brainstorming process, contributing to the systematic evaluation of potential solutions, and engaging in the trade analysis phase. I played a pivotal role in assessing various criteria, such as system efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and ease of implementation, all from a system engineering perspective.

Outcome:
The Operator Presence Enhancement Project resulted in the development of a systematically engineered solution for detecting operator presence in machinery operations. This safety measure aligns with industry standards and enhances safety and efficiency in machinery operations. My contribution as a System Engineering Intern was crucial in the systematic evaluation and development of this solution, emphasizing the principles of system engineering and promoting safety within the industry.
